PO- and VO-raad: modernising and securing scholenopdekaart.nl

Finaps supports and maintains scholenopdekaart.nl and the Azure infrastructure behind it for the PO- and VO-raad, keeping the platform performant, secure and up to date.

Their Challenge

The PO- and VO-raad represent and support school boards in Dutch primary and secondary education, respectively, advocating for their interests and promoting high-quality education.

Together, they are responsible for scholenopdekaart.nl, a public website that gives parents, pupils and anyone interested clear insights into thousands of schools across the Netherlands. The site is built on ASP.NET Core MVC and Angular, hosted on Azure infrastructure that also powers the data services behind it.

As a public-facing platform used by a broad and diverse audience, scholenopdekaart.nl needs to remain performant, stable and functional under all circumstances. That means the underlying code, dependencies and Azure infrastructure must stay up to date, resilient and secure, without disrupting the experience for the people who rely on it.

Our Solution

When Finaps joined the project, the scholenopdekaart.nl website and its Azure infrastructure were already well established. Rather than a rebuild, the focus was on bringing the existing platform up to modern standards: updating the code and its dependencies, simplifying infrastructure management, and strengthening error handling, auditing and security.

Finaps also took on a supporting role in the design and implementation of the migration to a new data platform, helping ensure the transition preserved the reliability and performance the PO- and VO-raad and their users depend on.
